Occupational Therapy

Introducing Our Occupational Therapist, Louise Anderson.

Louise is a member of The British Association of Occupational Therapists and is also registered with the Health Professions Council. Louise is a Specialist Occupational Therapist working primarily with adults with acquired brain injury.

Since qualifying with a BSC Hons in 2003 Louise has worked in various areas of Occupational Therapy and her experience is broad working in Paediatrics, Adult Community, Mental Health, Elderly Inpatient Rehabilitation and now in Adult Neuro-Rehabilitation.

These experiences have provided Louise with a good knowledge base and her association with Jay-Care affords us a different approach to our products and their application. It allows us to take a clinical approach which when mixed with our expert product knowledge, allows our client to feel more confident about the product’s recommendation and that the advice we offer is solid and reliable.

We can now offer assessments in the following areas:

  • Moving and handling
  • Advanced wheelchair specification (Powered and Manual)
  • Assessment of Activities of Daily Living (ADL) from kitchen and dining to toileting and bathing
  • Seating Assessment and Pressure Relief

Other services include:

  • Functional and Cognitive Rehabilitation
  • Vocational Rehabilitation

“I thoroughly enjoy the challenge involved in working with people and promoting their independence in activities that are meaningful to them, setting short and long term
goals towards achieving health and personal satisfaction.

My experience has allowed me to understand how vitally important it is to give accurate advice based upon clinical need and include the individual within the process to enable the correct equipment to be selected. I have found that matching expert clinical knowledge with advanced product knowledge can provide a solution that enables somebody to remain as independent as possible or improve activities to enhance their quality of life.

It is my aim to remain independent and neutral so that my clinical opinion and reasoning is at the forefront of any decision making and advice given.”

“Occupational Therapy helps people engage as independently as possible in the activities (occupations) which enhance their health and well being” (College of Occupational Therapists)
